Renata Kasasova was born in Slovakia in 1965. Fleeing her country in 1984, just a few years before the collapse of the communist empire, Renata arrived in Sydney where she now works and resides. It was not until 1992 when Renata began exploring painting as a form of expression.
Most recognized through her oil pastel drawings, these works present bold purple lines on vibrant ochre backgrounds. Symbolizing tension, movement and an overall sensuality of figurative representation, the work also reflects spiritual connotations. The white lines in particular express an inner energy radiating in aura-like movements.
